Have your say: submissions open for the review of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.
The following is a verbatim transcript of an email sent by the SRC Act review panel.
The independent panel for the review wants to hear your feedback on the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, and your experiences with the Comcare scheme.
The panel has released an issues paper that includes questions to help guide your response. Visit the Consultation Hub to download the paper and find out the options available to provide your views including through a short survey.
Submissions close on 2 December 2024.
The panel is seeking submissions from:
* Injured workers or family members of injured workers who have lived experience of the Comcare scheme.
* Other participants directly involved in the workers’ compensation scheme, such as employers of an injured worker, claims managers, rehabilitation providers and health care providers.
* Peak representative bodies and organisations.
* Legal representatives, insurers, actuaries and academics with experience in workers’ compensation.
The review
The Australian Government has appointed an independent panel to undertake a comprehensive review of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, the legislation which underpins the Comcare workers’ compensation scheme.
The review will address all aspects of the scheme, including governance, usability and entitlements and provide recommendations to modernise the scheme.
The review is being conducted by an experienced independent panel, chaired by Ms Justine Ross, with panel members Professor Robin Creyke and Mr Greg Isolani. Further information on the panel members is available here. As a part of the consultation process, the panel is now seeking submissions to an issues paper to help better understand the experiences of injured workers and other stakeholders with the Comcare scheme.
Further information and updates on the review will be made available through this subscription service and on the department’s website.
Please forward this email to any individual or organisation that you believe may have an interest in providing a submission to the review.
Any questions about the review can be directed to: [email protected].

Now is the time to make your submission. If you have issues with the way Comcare has delt with your claim, your loved ones claim, even a friends claim, now is the time to speak up about it.
This is our opportunity for parliament to be informed about the egregious behaviour being perpetrated by these Government offenders.
If you have any issues or need any support making your submission and you understandably do not want to reach out to the Government, feel free to contact me and I will help where I can.
If you want someone to present your submission anonymously by proxy, I can help with that too.
This review was forced upon the Government by Senators David Pocock and Jacqui Lambie, as a condition of them agreeing to the 'Closing Loopholes' legislation.
